This website belongs to Kevin W. McKee, author (“I,” “me,” or “my”). This policy explains what information I collect when you visit kevinsinkquill.com or sign up for my reader newsletter, how I use it, and the choices you have. The short version: I collect your email address so I can send you news about my books, and I never sell your information to anyone.
Information I Collect
Newsletter signups. When you join my reader list — on this website, or through a book download page hosted by StoryOrigin — I collect your email address and, if you provide it, your name.
Technical information. Like most websites, this site and my service providers automatically collect certain technical data when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and approximate location, through cookies and similar technologies. My website is hosted by Webador, which may collect standard visitor statistics.
Advertising data. This site and my book landing pages may use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, a small piece of code that helps me measure the effectiveness of my advertising and show ads to people who have visited my pages. The pixel may collect information about your visit and share it with Meta Platforms, Inc. in accordance with Meta's own privacy policy.
How I Use Your Information
I use your email address to send you my author newsletter: book release news, sample chapters, advance review copy opportunities, and occasional updates about what I'm writing. I use technical and advertising data to understand how readers find my books and to improve my marketing. I rely on your consent to send you email — you opt in when you sign up, and you can withdraw that consent at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link found in every email I send.
Who I Share It With
I never sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Your data is shared only with the service providers who make this operation run:
- StoryOrigin (storyoriginapp.com) — the platform that hosts my book download pages and delivers review copies.
- Webador (webador.com) — the company that hosts this website.
- Meta Platforms (facebook.com) — if you interact with my pages while the Meta Pixel is active, as described above.
Each of these providers processes data under its own privacy policy and only for the purpose of providing its service to me. I may also disclose information if required to do so by law.
Cookies and How to Opt Out
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. You can block or delete them at any time in your browser settings. To opt out of interest-based advertising from Meta specifically, adjust your ad preferences in your Facebook account settings, or visit www.aboutads.info/choices. Blocking cookies will not affect your newsletter subscription or your ability to read this site.
How Long I Keep Your Information
I keep your email address for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, my email service suppresses your address from future sends; you may also request full deletion at any time using the contact details below.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR and various U.S. state privacy laws), you may have the right to access the personal information I hold about you, correct it, delete it, or object to its use. To exercise any of these rights, email me at the address below — I'm one person, not a corporation, and I'll handle it personally and promptly. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Children
This website and my newsletter are not directed at children under 16, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided me their email address, contact me and I will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
If I change this policy, I will post the updated version on this page with a new effective date. Meaningful changes affecting newsletter subscribers will be announced by email.
